Please remember that those persons whose ‘birth month’ falls between, 1st July and 30th September will be required to process their firearm license renewal, no later than the 31st of March this year. We at Point Blank will assist you in every way to ensure that the process is without any difficulty and the transition is simple. You can also be assured that the Somerset West, ‘Designated Firearms Officer’ Inspector Stoffberg will afford you every assistance for the completion of the necessary requirements. If you decided not to renew your current license, it will remain valid until the last day of June 2009. It is recommended that you should sell or ‘hand in’ either to a licensed firearm dealer or the police station in your area, before that date. Please avoid late bookings to complete your “Legal Test” and you will enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere by attending to this before March! The Unit Standard is a simple examination of your knowledge for the new Legal implications for licensed firearm owners in the future. Purchase the “Legal Test” unit standard 117705 for the recommended price of R320. The booklet is taken home, where the core pages, located between page 13 & 14 are removed for ease of referral to the questions. The questionnaire is conducted with an ‘open book’ in the relaxed environment of your home. Each question is supported by a directional indicator, showing where to find the relevant section (answers). Once the questions have been answered and you are ready to undertake the ‘closed book’ exam, make an appointment at Point blank. The closed book exam consists of 25 questions, randomly selected from the ‘Open Book’ questionnaire! ( there are no hidden issues). The answer sheet is based on ‘multiple choice’ concept. Therefore, a person only has to mark the relevant ‘box’ to indicate the chosen answers. Some people think this Legal Test is un-necessary, but it is a good thing, because it provides the very necessary knowledge to firearm owners about their responsibilities and the Law revisions, pertaining to the fitness of ownership. Please do not hesitate to call at Point Blank so we may assist you with the process.
