The main reason for entering all your articles in your house that have serial numbers is that sometimes
not only has a robbery taken place and your goods have been stolen but it may have been forcibly
removed and a violent crime may have been committed.

The items that have been stolen in such a case could be a direct link to the perpetrators of the
aforementioned crime. In this case when the public is offered the stolen items for sale, not only
is the chance better of finding the stolen items again but the chance of finding a link to the perpetrator
of the violent crime is much higher as well.

When you enter the serial number of your household items please be sure to enter the serial number
correctly as an incorrectly entered serial number could have far reaching implications. Be sure to note
the serial number on the item and don't rely entirely on the serial number on the box that the item
came in. In a lot of cases the serial number on the box and the item may vary slightly. The item might be
out on the street for sale, not the box it came in.
